introducing

Starting a new project is always exciting. Now, where to begin? The best way for me to jump start my brain is to grab my pencil and one of my composition books and start writing. To figure out what I need to know...I need to know what I already know. Got it? Here are my notes about this project so far. It's a start. 

I am sidetracked already, the client needs a logo. After a brief brainstorming session with Tom, I made some initial sketches. We did some free listing and came up with fire, wood, and meat. Since I have no idea how to make meat or wood look good on a logo I steered our thinking towards cooking. Eureka! Sabatier: A chef's knife used specifically for carving meat. 

Since Tom doesn't have a lot of time prior to the meeting I sent him a custom questionnaire. This directed my research and allowed us to move quickly to the next steps. By the end of the first meeting, we both felt accomplished and confident. I was able to define the problem, create user personas, list users needs and outline the project's features. Whew! 

I admittedly have a lot of research to do for this project. It's a startup in a specific field that is pretty new. So, I created a form for users to fill out that will create actual persona's for me. The very clever Google Forms gives great analytical data in their Summary section which I will use to determine how we can help our users achieve their goals.
